In 1987, a couple of guys no one had heard of Ron Gilbert and Gary Winnick created a revolutionary game called Maniac Mansion, which introduced several playable characters and a funky interface based on a verb called SCUMM. Three decades later, they come out with a retro-style game called Thimbleweed Park, with a new set of multiplayer characters and a more refined but funky and essentially identical verb-based, click-and-click interface. As the game itself boasts, this is meant to be "the best adventure game you've ever played in 1987."

The game (sort of) begins with a murder investigation, as two detectives arrive at the crime scene, unbeknownst to each other. According to their personal diaries, brave Junior Special Agent Antonio Reyes and cunning Senior Special Agent Angela Ray have their own secret reasons for pursuing a case in the middle of nowhere, so they quickly part ways.
