The Sufferingis a 3D action game that combines the best elements of Manhunt and horrors like Resident Evil and Silent Hill.

The protagonist, a man named Torque, awaits a lethal injection at the Abbot prison facility. He was sentenced to death for allegedly murdering his own wife and children, but he doesn't remember any of that. The events that occur while he is imprisoned are even stranger for a horde of monsters (10 types of them in total) straight from the worst attacks of nightmares.

The beasts hit everyone in sight, so Torque decides to run over the bodies of the defeated enemies (nine levels, both inside and outside). Of course, aside from the opponents, he encounters a number of friendly characters who shed some light on the story's secrets and sometimes offer help.
