Despite the title, players in Tactical Ops: Assault on Terror can either join an elite team of special forces to combat terrorism or become a member of the terrorist cell intent on wreaking havoc and destruction. Special forces mission objectives include saving hostages, killing terrorists, disarming bombs, protecting secrets, escaping leader, and more, while terrorists usually have opposite objectives, such as stealing prototypes, planting bombs, sabotage, infiltration and so on. A single-player campaign offers players the opportunity to gain experience before joining online teams over a LAN or Internet.
