New York City has been invaded and only Spider-Man can save it.

Spider-Man: Web of Shadowsoffers you an unprecedented level of gameplay, including, for the first time, control over the direction and outcome of the game. Choose how Spider-Man fights, which powers he upgrades, who in the Marvel universe to fight with or against, and the fate of New York City itself.

More immediately, it's the combat model that sets Shadow Realm apart from previous Spider-Man games. Web-sling becomes an integral part of the beat-em-up work. Spidey can swing punches as he swings through the streets, drag one of the baddies along with him while wall hopping, or web-buffer himself toward an airborne enemy at top speed.

In general, combat is designed to be open and improvisational, with players chaining together combos as they advance. The other major twist to combat is the ability to switch from Spider-Man's friendly neighborhood red and blue suit to the super-powered black suit on the fly. The red and blue suit offers incomparable agility and grace, but the black suit gives the hero even greater brute strength.
