In Sins of a Solar Empire RemasteredFree for PC, players must conquer planets and defeat their enemies to become the most threatening force in space. Both single and multiplayer action take place in real time, and players can choose to play alone or challenge their friends to a "domination party."

To survive the hostile world, players must align themselves with one of three factions: The Advent, the Vasari Empire, or the Emergency Trade Coalition. Each group is competing for first place and can use force, technological research, democracy, alliances and devious tricks to obtain the position. For example, the game features a bounty hunting system where players can silently offer a reward for the destruction of a particularly annoying enemy unit.

Players who prefer to remain honest can use the diplomatic system to compromise with their adversaries rather than gain power through illicit actions. Aside from combat, players colonize planets and take advantage of resources that can enhance a variety of functions for their faction.
