Shadowgroundsis a Shoot 'em up arcade game for the modern generation. The plot, involving the distant space colony invaded by shadow-loving monsters, unfolds throughout the game.
There are several different weapons to choose from and each can be upgraded as the player sees fit. Some weapons have more upgrades than others. Explosive barrels and other objects can be used to increase the body count. And yes, there are great bosses to shoot too.
It's not all senseless carnage, however, as real-time lighting has been integrated into the game itself. Most monsters don't like light and prefer to stay in the shadows, making your portable light an important part of the game. Monsters are also blinded for a short time if you shine the light directly into their eyes.
