Ready or Notis a first-person tactical shooter game developed by Void Interactive. The game is a spiritual heir to the cult classic game SWAT 4.

The game takes place in the contemporary United States which was consumed by chaos due to the increasing stratification of society. The player takes on the role of a member of the famous SWAT, trained for special missions that require quick, professionally coordinated and perfectly planned actions.

Each mission in Ready or Not is preceded by the planning phase. During this phase, players can analyze the layout of the room, cut power to the building, block escape routes, or create new entrances. In this phase, players can also select weapons for missions and equipment (including shields, battery battering rams, and ladders).

Once the actual mission begins, the action is presented from the first-person perspective. Players are accompanied by up to seven companions to whom they can give orders. When played alone, companions are controlled by advanced artificial intelligence that also controls enemies and hostages. This artificial intelligence ensures that the behavior of virtual humans is realistic and unpredictable.

Civilians may panic during firefights and try to escape, adversaries tactically take advantage of their environment (for example, they may hide behind obstacles).

Members of the player team follow orders and at the same time have a bit of autonomy. They can act silently and will avoid firing their weapons unless given permission. Before opening a new room, they could throw a smoke grenade inside.
