Pursuit Forcecasts players in the role of a rookie police officer seeking to apprehend members of five ruthless gangs lurking in the fictional Capital City. Players will actively engage in high-speed chases, airstrikes, and stand-up battles against players such as the Vixens, Killer 66, Convicts, Warlords, and Capellis.
While the theme immediately draws comparisons to the Grand Theft Auto series, Pursuit Force throws in some original elements to help set it apart. Instead of stealing cars in the "traditional" sense, players must commandeer vehicles while traveling at over 150 miles per hour.
Taking control of rival vehicles involves chasing them, maintaining a certain range, and pressing a button when an icon appears on the screen. The character will then jump into the vehicle and engage in a battle for the wheel, which usually consists of shooting and defensive moves.
This unusual gameplay mechanic is used in all of the title's 30 missions, and the more than 50 vehicles available range from buses and motorcycles to motorboats and helicopters.
