Players head to the Caribbean during the height of the Age of Sail as they try to gain fortune and glory as an adventurer or merchant in Port Royale 3. As an adventurer, players engage in naval battles, raid ports, and plunder cities, while Merchants must deal with dynamic supply and demand as they grow their economic power by forming trade routes between up to 60 different cities.

The "Free Play" mode combines elements of both campaigns, as players sail 16 different types of ships for Spanish, English, French or Dutch and up to four can compete online for multiplayer contests.

Characteristics:
