Phantom Brave is fairly well balanced, without too much of a need to grind, unless you take some more unusual character builds with the large number of weapons available. You can cheese the moves and abilities from time to time to launch more enemies than usual or get them millimeters further away to reach just one enemy or a particular object, but for the most part it works well.

This allows for a much freer range of movement and also changes abilities to have more liberal areas of effect to compensate for the less rigid style movement. Moving and manipulating enemies requires a little more than a normal SRPG strategy and a bit of getting used to, but once you get the hang of it, running around the battlefield can be very satisfying.
