Computer expert Hunter is hired by the Johnston Biotek corporation, which has just been called Corporation in the game. Hunter must repair the network of a mining complex but it fails and he ends up in an underground cavern world after an explosion.

A man named Toadstool finds him and tells F where they are: in an underground world where a computer phenomenon called Hacker has taken power. When the Corporation leaves him alone, Hunter has to find his way back to the surface alone. In searching for him he meets Kathryn, a mysterious woman, who sometimes helps the player. Hunter faces many dangers and problems; for example, when he confronts sinister figures in an underground prison colony.
