The gameplay in NBA Playgrounds 2 is arcade-like, but still based on the rules of street basketball. The matches feature two teams of two players each, who try to score more points than their opponents. Players can not only throw the ball and perform dunk shots, but also perform spectacular stunts.

The mechanics are no different from the first game, although there are new player movements and new courts, and the AI ​​has been improved. There are over 200 licensed characters to play, some of them available from the start, including Kevin Durant, LeBron James, Shaquille O'Neal, Magic Johnson, Allen Iverson and Larry Bird.

The most important new feature is Season, the solo career mode, in which you lead your team throughout the season, participate in the play-offs and strive to win the NBA Finals. Another mode, the Playgrounds Championship, is the world league, with leaderboards in solo and co-op modes.
