Killing Floorfor PC is a special version of a popular modification for Unreal Tournament 2004, developed entirely by an independent and amateur team at Shatterline Productions. Its commercial debut was made possible with the help of Tripware Interactive, established a few years earlier and already famous thanks to its mod, Red Orchestra: Ostfront 41-45, which won the Make Something Unreal competition.

The story of Killing Floor uses survival horror settings and takes place in Britain, where people began turning into mutants due to genetic experiments. The plague is the work of the Horizon organization and has been contained for a while, but then research has been taken underground in the largest British cities and soon a lab assistant's mistake resulted in the monsters returning to the surface. . As one of six heroes, players must stop the dark invasion of infected people, save the healthy, and restore order.

Teamwork is crucial, as ammunition is surplus and the use of environments (for example, locking doors) plays a very important role. Occasionally, the game will initiate ZED Time, a bullet-type feature that affects all players.
