Freak Out Extreme Freerideis an arcade ski game, focused on performing tricks and stunts. The main mode is Mission, where players need to jump gaps, do tricks, grind rails, and choose stars. Completing the different challenges is rewarded with money, exchanged for basic equipment (skis, boots, helmets) and style equipment (jackets, goggles, gloves) in the store.

It also opens up new slopes and mountains. In Freeride the goal is to get the highest score, opening up slopes and mountains, there are four mountains in total, and earn resistance points. Bone Ride has the player collect bones in a time limit to earn breakeven points and the overcoming courses in Slope Style mode require the player to reach a predefined score to receive trick skill points.

In most tricks, players must watch their landings: touch the ground with the weight of your back, front or side and a lower score multiplier will be awarded. Along with basic information on the screen, such as time, score and stunts, the game also keeps track of your "flow", doing consecutive tricks. There are six different characters and the arsenal of tricks includes flips, rolls, sculpts/cross skis, grabs, rails, jumps and specials.
