FIFA 13is another installment of the most popular soccer simulator developed by the Canadian EA Sports Studios. Like the previous games, this one also went through a number of significant improvements that affect the game mechanics.

Many changes were made to the physics engine called Player Impact Engine, first implemented in FIFA 12. The developers greatly improved the way defenders act in low-spatial situations, as well as their arm behavior in push-pull , and they managed to eliminate graphical glitches connected to it.

Considerable changes were also made to ball control, this time much more emphasis was placed on receiving the ball. This action is now affected by a number of new factors, such as defensive pressure, weather conditions, player technical skills and others. Additionally, the developers introduced a range of new "first touch" moves and passes.

The Attacking Intelligence module brings many changes to the offensive playstyle. Greater emphasis was placed on the use of free field (especially on the wings), which increased the freedom of play. In addition, the developers improved the behavior of passive players participating in an action: offensive players can focus the attention of defenders on themselves more often, allowing the player to easily create a shooting situation.
