Dynasty Warriors 9is another installment of the popular action game series with tactical features. Similar to its predecessors, it was developed by Omega Force. The title was released on PC/Windows during the series' fifteenth anniversary. The developers decided to celebrate by presenting many new features and improvements to the game mechanics.

The story told inDynasty Warriors 9for PC/Windows is loosely based on the novel Romance of the Three Kingdoms, which depicts the civil war that took place in China during the second and third centuries. The player can choose from a variety of different characters: 83 known characters from Dynasty Warriors 8: Empires and a few new ones. Among them are warriors known from other games created by this studio, including the Yellow Turban general Zhou Cang, who appeared in the aforementioned novel by Luo Guanzhong and in the game Musou Stars.

The mainstay of Dynasty Warriors 9 for PC/Windows is real-time battles with hundreds of participants. Before the battle, the player can make some tactical decisions and then can join the battlefield where he attacks enemies side by side with the army he leads. The combat system changed a lot compared to previous entries in the series.
