Okhlos is light on the story, but the important detail is that the person rallying the Greeks to cause chaos is a philosopher. The Philosopher is the character you control with the WASD/left stick keys, and the mob is controlled with the right analog stick/mouse. You can gain additional troops by playing them with the mob, with classes such as warriors, defenders and other philosophers ready to help. Philosophers are essentially their lives: die and it passes to the control of another philosopher in their group. You run out of philosophers and it's time to return to the origins.
So as the game goes down, Okhlos almost feels like a mix between Smash TV and Katamari Damacy. Travel around an area hitting cyclops, different sirens, satyrs and such until the area is clear and you can move on to the next, and in between you gather more troops when needed.
