Batman Arkham Cityfor PC is a sequel to an action game that took players to the universe of the Batman comics. The game was developed by Rocksteady Studios, who previously developed the excellent Batman: Arkham Asylum, as well as Urban Chaos: Riot Response (PS2, Xbox).

The game begins a few months after the events of the first part. Quincy Sharp, the former director of Arkham Asylum, becomes the mayor of Gotham, after taking full credit for Batman's work. One of his first decisions is to buy a large part of a local slum district, expel its inhabitants, fence it in, and fill it with Arkham prisoners.

Surprisingly, instead of killing each other, the thugs grouped themselves into several gangs, each led by a super villain known from the Batman comics. On behalf of the mayor the prison district is administered by a mysterious madman known as Hugo Strange. He gives the inmates full freedom, the only rule is no escape attempts.
